viliv launched S5 Premium MID (Mobile Internet
Device) with 3G EVDO embedded in China on July 10, 2009
China on July 10 , 2009 - viliv (Yukyung Technologies
Corporation)- The product, viliv S5 Premium 3G, was launched. viliv S5
Premium 3G has 4.8" touch screen mobile PC running Window XP OS and has a 3G
capability of CDMA 2000 1x EV-DO Rev. A with 3.1Mbps for downloading and
1.86Mbps for uploading which China Telecom is currently doing service in China.
Its EV-DO supports 800 Mhz/1900Mhz which enables wireless mobile broadband
internet connectivity as well as voice communication available.
With its integrated 3G mobile broadband,
viliv S5 Premium 3G EV-DO becomes a new paradigm of enabling mobile
computing as well as voice communication in a small portable mobile PC. viliv
S5 Premium 3G will set a competition with Smartphone of voice communication
with broadband data service.
Furthermore, viliv S5 Premium 3G uses
faster speed SSD (Solid State Driver) which enables not only up to 7 hours video
playback but faster running Window XP based applications than most of net books.
In January 2009, Chinese government finalized
its 3G frequency to the major three mobile telecommunication service providers,
China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom. China Telecom adopted an American
CDMA based 2000 Rev. A , China Mobile adopted Chinese own unique TS-SCDMA and
China Unicom adopted European GSM based HSPA. Chinese government is also
providing fund directly from the government to enable faster and broader
subscriptions on top of carrier¡¯s own subsidizing fund offered to subscribers.
¡°Although China Telecom using EV-DO has inferior data rate of its 3G to HSPA,
you can use satisfactory level of data rate of over 1Mbps for mobile broadband
with most area of China serviced.¡± stated Dr. Seung-Jin Yoo, Executive Vice
President of Yukyung Technologies. ¡°And furthermore another crucial factor of 3G
subscription expansion, cost for 3G service subscription of EV-DO has the most
cost competitiveness as well as more versatile services available.¡±
The shipment of viliv S5 Premium 3G was shipped to fulfill the presold
orders and it is expected viliv¡¯s sales will be expanded bigger in the 2nd
half of 2009.
viliv is undergoing field test for its
TD-SCDMA 3G enabled models at various locations in China such as Beijing,
Tianjin, Shanghai, Canton province, and Fujian and also has a plan to ship HSPA
3G available models.
